More than your average guestbook

I always thought the normal wedding guestbook was a little lack luster. It might be perfect for many but for us it just didn’t seem right to have the memories of all those people who joined us on our special day to be put in a book and left on a bookshelf. Instead I made a special way to remember those who were there. Our wedding was a farmhouse rustic so called shabby chic themed.I found a old picture frame stashed in my fathers garage. I repurposed the frame into something perfect for us. I cleaned up the frame, restained it and sealed it. I bought and cut a piece of plywood to fit the back of the frame. I painted the plywood a flat white and attached to the frame with a handy staple gun. I then purchased a few metal shingles. I used paint on hand to paint the shingles with “Mr. & Mrs. Thomas“. For the name Thomas I did one letter per shingle. On the day of our wedding I put the sign out for everyone to see. I asked for all who attended to write their name on the sign. I put sharpies out and couldn’t wait to see the end result. The very next weekend we put that very sign in our living room wall. Each move we took it with us to remember all of those who celebrated with us on that day. Some of who are no longer with us today. I smile every time I glance at it.
